Apex Pallet Racking Plastic Beam Locks Back In Stock
We have another 2000 PBL in our stock.
These Red and Blue plastic beam locks are to suit Apex Pallet Racking only.

The Apex Pallet Racking Beam Lock has developed over the years. The development and changes have not been published so I thought I would make a quick summary as its a very common question.
A: The original ACROW beam lock, was a pressed steel body with strong magnet and white plastic centre rivet. This was originally for the Acrow racking with the square location hole in the front face. Measures 25x49mm
B: The original APEX beam lock, Magnetic Safety Lock (pre 20th November 1989.) was a pressed steel body with strong ferrite magnet and black plastic centre rivet, This was used on the first version of Apex pallet racking with the round location hole in front face. Measures 25x49mm. This is still used today for its strength in cold store applications. (But very limited stock.)
C: The 1st design of a plastic beam lock to be used in Apex pallet racking. There is no logo marking on this. Measures 25x47mm.
Its important to note the plastic beam lock does not work with the early design of beam connector pre 1989.
D: The 2nd design of a plastic beam lock to be used in Apex pallet racking. Acetal Beam Lock (post 20th November 1989.) There is an APEX logo on the blue centre pin and the red clip has a textured surface to the front face. Measures 25x47mm.
E: The 3rd design of a plastic beam lock to be used in Apex pallet racking. Acetal Beam Lock (post 2010.) There is an APEX logo on the blue centre pin and the red clip has a textured surface to the front face. Measures 26.5x47mm. The increase in size was to improve the tolerance of fit with the newer design of beam connector.
If you are trying to install beam locks into an old racking system 1989 or older you will not be able to use the newest design of plastic clip, you would need the Magnetic Beam Locks.
If you are trying to install beam locks into an old racking system of 2010 to 1989 you will not be able to use the newest design of plastic clip, you would need the Magnetic Beam Locks or possibly the 2nd design of beam lock at 25mm height.
The older style of beam connector had a slightly longer top lug which protruded approx 2mm below the louvre in the racking post – while its no problem for the magnetic beam locks the plastic locks with their close tolerance are an issue on very old systems.
If you are trying to install beam locks into a racking system from 2010 onward you should be able to use the new design of plastic beam lock.
If you have any technical questions on this we are happy to assist.
As a distributor and installer for over 35 years we have a bit of experience on this.
